Al Shabaab suicide bombers have attacked Somalia’s parliament, killing at least eleven people.
Police said a car bomb exploded at the gate outside the parliament building in Mogadishu and was followed by a suicide bomber explosion.
The militants then stormed the front of the parliament building with security forces firing back. The attackers then continued firing from a nearby mosque.
Al-Shabab, which is linked to al-Qaeda, once controlled large areas of Somalia but was pushed out of major cities two years ago. It has since waged a sustained guerrilla campaign.
